OneRoomChallenge: The Exterior Plan - Week Three

This week was mostly planning as we needed to order all the exterior materials to ensure we had them on time. Last week we decided to put up not one.. not two.. but FIVE exterior design options up on our story and let our followers vote on their favorite.

Now the time has come to reveal the winner and explain what we will be doing in the next week.

We ultimately chose Option 4, which was the option with the most follower votes. One of the biggest obstacles during this challenge has been getting what we want as far as material and ensuring it arrives on time.

We had originally wanted a more classic black tin roof, but it just wasn't in the cards for us. With so many metal shortages we had to make a compromise and go with a black metal shingle stamped roof, which we aren't unhappy with at all.

We also decided to go with a cedar shake that will grey over time instead of a siding material that would be grey now. The cost savings were significant. Lastly, the board and batten.. it is a siding product and thankfully was readily available! We have the door and windows ordered and ready for pick up, things are really falling into place!

Seeing as its a long weekend here, we are taking advantage of the extra day and putting a dent into the bunkhouse, next week we should be receiving a lot of the exterior finishes and we cant wait to show you how that looks!!

Make sure to stay tuned and follow along on the blog, but also check out some of the other amazing designers participating in this Spring's One Room Challenge
